Wow .01¢ cent No Reserve! Why?
No, it does not mean there is anything wrong with
the item, we have been doing it this way for many years on eBay and it has worked well for us and the bidder.
Yes, One
Penny - No Reserve. Why - because I believe it's the fair way to start an
auction. If eBay gets 2.5 Billion page hits per week
and if 3 people start to bid on an item, it will go to fair market value
every time!
Who am I to say an item is worth $50 then start it there? That's
not fair to the buyer. I watch some sellers that start their auctions
at about retail - and they wonder why they don't get one bid!
Remember I am also a buyer on eBay
and I know what I look for too..... I like the good old auction feeling of
bidding the item up, getting the fever and winning it for what I think its
worth.
5% of our auctions close at .1¢ some close with
no bidders at all, that does not mean the item was not worth more it just
means the people that would have bid on it were not searching on ebay that
week, we get people up to a month later still emailing us to say they wish
they seen it.
So do we feel bad that an item closed at a penny, No
not at all, we do not look at it as a per item auction, we look at the whole,
and every week we also have items that go for more then we expected.
Reason #2
We get things that we don't know what they are or what they are worth, so how can I set the price.
We have to move many items that we cant put a retail
price tag on it and wait months for someone to come a long and want it at
that price, we have to move over 2000Sq feet of items per month.
So, if you win it for one cent you can rest assure you are going to get it!
Snipe?
Now back to the real world, you most likely are not
going to win it for a penny with so many bidders using snipping tactics and
programs that bid for you at the last minute like http://www.esnipe.com/ There are many other sniping programs out there I suggest you
Google it before you lose another auction :)
Number one, you can bid the most you are willing to pay right off the bat
Two, you can keep watching it all week and keep bidding it up (you will never win it)
Three, come back in the last few seconds and bid your max (Manual Sniper)
I'll Start it at $0.01 and let YOU tell me what it's
worth!
Because we do it this way a lot of
our auctions go "Hot Status"
(more then 30+ bidders) and show the match icon.
to win!
